That strength was tested in a way I never expected when I became the world's first participant in the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine trial, an experience that landed me on NBC, CNN, and the TODAY show. Through it all, my practice was the constant, a toolkit for regulating my nervous system when the world was watching. My mission is to share that toolkit with you.       <image:caption>I am beyond humbled. In May 2020, I became the first person in the world to participate in the double-blind Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial at NYU Langone. At a time of global uncertainty, this experience deepened my trust in science, resilience, and the role we each play in collective well-being. I later learned I had received the vaccine and went on to participate in the booster study.       <image:caption>Melissa has been teaching mindfulness and yoga for the past ten years in a wide range of settings—including universities, corporate offices, and law firms. She co-led an intimate 15-person yoga and meditation retreat at Green Gulch Zen Center in Northern California and created a custom 6-week yoga program for legal professionals at the San Francisco Bar Association. She also teaches group classes on Insight Timer, the #1 free meditation and yoga app, where her donation-based sessions reach a global community. Locally, Melissa leads studio classes and works one-on-one with students through private sessions—offered both in person and online. Melissa currently lives in Atlanta with her husband and their sweet senior fur baby, Henrietta. Fun Fact Melissa’s yoga journey began not in a studio—but in her living room. Back in 2005, while juggling the launch of a boutique law office, a thoughtful roommate handed her a yoga DVD (yes… an actual DVD!). That one practice became a turning point. She’s been hooked on savasana (aka the yogi nap) ever since—and never feared the “woo woo” again.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>On May 4, 2020, Melissa became the first in the world and the first New Yorker to be vaccinated in the United States in the double blind Pfizer &amp; BioNTech coronavirus vaccine study at NYU Langone. On January 29, 2021, Melissa was unblinded from the study and was given confirmation of her vaccinated status. In March 2021, Melissa continued her journey and enrolled in the booster vaccine trial. In May 2022, Melissa received her second booster. The Vaccine Center at NYU Langone in Manhattan led by Dr. Mark Mulligan helped launch the international clinical trial of with over 46,000 voluntary participants. What has been her biggest side effect? She is amazed how full her heart feels. Melissa is grateful and humbled to have had the opportunity to bring hope to the world. “Yes.
